John A. Robinson, M.D.

John A. Robinson, M.D. received the Doctor of Medicine Degree from the University of Kansas and then completed a year of Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Kansas Wichita division. Dr. Robinson next completed an Ophthalmology Residency at the University of Oklahoma and McGee Eye Institute. His eye surgery practice, specializing in cataract, glaucoma, and laser eye surgery, is located in Shawnee, Oklahoma, where he founded the Robinson Eye Institute. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.

For over twenty years Dr. Robinson has volunteered his time to teach ophthalmology as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine. He was previously involved in teaching in the Shawnee Family Medicine program as a Clinical Associate Professor of Family Medicine for the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine.

Among Dr. Robinson's honors are Phi Beta Kappa, awarded to the top bachelor's degree graduates, and Alpha Omega Alpha for the top medical graduates. He has twice been elected President of the Oklahoma Academy of Ophthalmology, and has twice been President of the Medical Staff at Shawnee Regional Hospital. His colleagues honored him with selection as Oklahoma's Councillor for the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He has also served as Chief of Surgery at Shawnee Regional Hospital and as President of the Pottawatomie County Medical Association. Rotary International has named him a Paul Harris Fellow.

Dr. Robinson has served in civic offices including Trustee of Shawnee Regional Hospital, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art, Chairman of the Shawnee Advisory Board for Oklahoma Baptist University, and as a Member and President of the Grove School Board of Education. He has also been selected as a member of Leadership Oklahoma.
